Ukraine is investigating a missile attack on the formation of the elite 128th mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Zaporozhye Front. This was stated by the head of the cybersecurity department of the SBU, Ilya Vityuk.

He said that a missile strike on the best artillerymen in 2023 killed not 19 military personnel, as officially stated, but more than 30. The main version of how the strike could have been carried out is — phone hacking.

Vityuk noted that one of the threats is sending phishing messages to hack the messengers of specific military personnel. They are sent by the hacker group «Armageddon». And such messages come in thousands.

Hacking a device gives access to instant messengers and computers via mail.

“During the investigation of one of the attacks, during which more than 30 of our military personnel died, we found that one of the devices that had the Signal messenger received a message about the specific date and location of the military formation, where the missile later arrived,” said Vityuk.
