MOSCOW, April 21. Telephone scammers offer to download a special bank application, through which they gain access to citizens’ personal data, NGR Softlab information security analyst Andrey Shabalin told the Prime agency.
According to him, scammers take advantage of the difficulties in downloading official applications and send links through which the user downloads malware. Through it, attackers gain full access to the device with all personal data.
To avoid this, you should pay attention to incoming calls. Please note that even the most customer-oriented bank will not call customers with an offer to update the version of its application. Pay attention to the number from which the call came. It is always better to call the bank back yourself, even if the scammers are trying to keep you on the line.
Do not click on links received from SMS from unknown senders, but rather look for official application sources. There are certified Russian solutions that offer suitable options, Shabalin concluded.
