Politico: The United States hopes to transfer part of the aid from the new package to Ukraine by May 9
The United States hopes to deliver some of the new aid package to Ukraine by May 9, but it is unlikely that all of it will be sent by this time, Politico writes, citing a Joe Biden administration official.
The US House of Representatives has passed a bill to allocate almost $61 billion to Ukraine, as well as a bill that includes a provision for the confiscation of the sovereign assets of the Russian Federation in favor of the former Soviet republics.
“The White House believes that it will be able to expeditiously send part of the aid to Ukraine before May 9, but it is unlikely that all the weapons from the United States in the package will be delivered by this time,” the authors of the publication shared the details.
From the official’s point of view, some of the assistance (for example, ammunition) will already begin to be delivered, but other positions will take longer. In addition, as noted in the material, some shells, such as ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, can be sent quite quickly, and 155 mm artillery will take longer to deliver to the line of combat contact.
