The range of three-row Jeep has been supplemented by a 2.0 petrol turbo-four of the Hurricane family. Along with the new engine, the model also received a Blackhawk version with extended black decor.
Previously, the Jeep brand line included two different crossovers with the revived name Commander (originally this name belonged to an SUV): one for China, the second for Latin America. But in 2022, the Chinese SUV ceased to exist along with the local joint venture GAC FCA — this model was not in demand. But the Latin American three-row Jeep Commander turned out to be quite successful: it debuted in 2021, its closest relative is the Jeep Compass, and both SUVs are produced by a Brazilian plant for this region. And now this Commander has been brought to the new model year — the premiere took place in Brazil.

The main update is the 2.0 petrol turbo-four of the Hurricane family, which produces 272 hp. and 400 Nm. The Ram Rampage pickup truck is equipped with the same engine; in addition, it has recently begun to be installed on the local Jeep Compass. The Jeep Commander with this turbo engine has a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. In addition, the suspension has been reconfigured for the new modification. It was announced that the three-row crossover with 2.0 Hurricane will reach the first “hundred” in 7 seconds, the maximum speed is 220 km/h.

As before, the Jeep Commander is also available for Brazilians with a 1.3 T270 Flex bi-fuel turbo-four (gasoline/ethanol — 180/185 hp, 270 Nm) combined with a 6-automatic transmission and a 2.0 Multijet II turbodiesel, which is paired with a 9-automatic transmission. In the first case, the crossover is strictly front-wheel drive, in the second – all-wheel drive. With the 1.3 engine, Commander accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.4 or 9.5 seconds (gasoline/ethanol), top speed is 200 or 202 km/h. Indicators for diesel cross are 11.6 s and 197 km/h.

The crossover with a new engine is offered in two of the most luxurious trim levels – Overland and the new Blackhawk. The latest features are black exterior decor instead of chrome and red brake calipers. By the way, the Brazilian Jeep Commander cannot be called “poor”: the base already has LED optics, a virtual instrument panel (10.25 inches), a multimedia system with a 10.1-inch diagonal touchscreen, six airbags, adaptive cruise control, auto braking systems and lane keeping. Top versions also have 19-inch wheels instead of 18-inch ones, a panoramic sunroof, leather and suede interior trim, electrically adjustable front seats (with memory function), a blind spot monitoring system.

Another innovation for Commander-2025 — the basic version is now five-seater, the third row of seats has been made optional for it. This made it possible to slightly reduce the price: the crossover costs from 217,290 reais, which is equivalent to approximately 3,877,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. A model with a new 2.0 Hurricane turbo engine will cost at least 308,290 reais (about 5,500,000 rubles).
Meanwhile, the Brazilian Jeep Commander has a brother in India — there the crossover is called Meridian. According to preliminary data, the Indian SUV is about to undergo a restyling.
