MOSCOW, April 28. Criminals began to actively use schemes to steal accounts on social networks under the guise of “technical support.” Vasily Shutov, a teacher at the department KB-1 «Information Security» of RTU MIREA, told the Prime agency how it works.
According to him, the user receives a message from an “employee” of the messenger about receiving an application to delete an account. To avoid this, they suggest following a third-party link and entering personal data and a security code. In this way, scammers gain access to the victim’s account and correspondence.
It is important to remember that no messengers collect requests to delete an account; this can only be done by the users themselves in the program settings.
“The main protection against scammers — two-factor authentication. And of course, a critical attitude towards any suspicious messages,” Shutov recalled.
