ISTANBUL, April 29 The Threads* social network has been unavailable in Turkey since Monday, the correspondent reports.
On April 15, the social network notified its users of the suspension of work in Turkey from April 29 due to the decision of the Turkish antimonopoly regulator. It was noted that user profiles will be deactivated, but they can download data and delete the profile at any time.
Attempts to open the social network when using a cellular network or Wi-Fi on Monday are unsuccessful, instead of posts there is a blank screen, there is constant loading. The social network does not open through VPN services either.
Meta* management has clarified that user messages will be available again if Threads* is resumed if they choose to “deactivate” their profile.
The Turkish Competition Council on March 18 decided to impose temporary restrictive measures and a fine against Meta* after the regulator decided that the combination of Instagram* and Threads* social media profiles facilitated the abuse of the company's dominant position in the advertising market .
* The activities of Meta (social networks Facebook and Instagram) are prohibited in Russia as extremist.
