
YEKATERINBURG, May 4. More than 40 thousand people in the Sverdlovsk region remain without electricity due to bad weather, the press service of the Rosseti Ural company reported.

“As of 16:00 Moscow time, just over 40 thousand people in our company’s area of responsibility remain without power supply. At the same time, our colleagues from other network organizations are working in the region,” the statement says.

It is noted that in the areas where technological violations were recorded, 113 teams, 371 people and 118 units of special equipment are working. According to the company, such consequences of bad weather have not occurred in the network complex of the Middle Urals for the last 20 years.
Heavy snowfall covered Yekaterinburg and the region on Saturday night. The largest amount of snow fell overnight in the Sverdlovsk Revda — according to the latest data from the Ural Hydrometeorological Center, the snow cover there amounted to 32 centimeters. In Yekaterinburg, snow cover has grown to seven centimeters.
As the regional prosecutor's office reported, due to bad weather, about 74 thousand people were left without electricity in 24 settlements of the Sverdlovsk region.
