MOSCOW, May 4. The All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography has been assigned the status of a state scientific center of the Russian Federation, follows from the order of the Russian government.
“In accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 5 of the Federal Law “On Science and State Scientific and Technical Policy” and Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of August 12, 2022 No. 546 “On State Scientific Centers of the Russian Federation”, assign the status of a state scientific center of the Russian Federation to the federal state budgetary scientific institution «All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography»,» the document says. 
The status of a state scientific center of the Russian Federation is assigned to a scientific organization that has a unique scientific installation, and/or a center for the collective use of scientific equipment, and/or unique experimental equipment, has highly qualified scientists and specialists, and whose activities have received international recognition.
The All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (FGBNU «VNIRO») is the basic scientific institution of the Russian fisheries industry. The Institute conducts comprehensive scientific research in all fisheries basins of the Russian Federation and in the World Ocean. The Institute develops biological justifications for the volume of total allowable catches and recommended catches of aquatic biological resources, has innovative solutions relating to the development of mariculture and aquaculture, genetics, molecular biology, technology for processing fish and non-fishery fisheries, conducts a comprehensive assessment of the impact on aquatic biological resources, and participates in the formation of economic policy of the Russian fishing industry.
