Roy Keane called Erling Haaland a «spoiled brat». The war of words between the pair reignited during Sky Sports' Premier League coverage on Sunday.
The former Manchester United captain criticized the City striker's angry behavior after being substituted after scoring four goals against Wolves.< /p>
Keane, who has a relationship with Haaland's father dating back to his playing days after the Irishman made what he later admitted was a deliberate tackle on the then City midfielder in 2001, has already swapped teeth with the player in recent years weeks after questioning his all-round performance. He compared Haaland's «overall performance» to that of a League Two footballer after City's goalless draw with Arsenal in March. However, on Saturday, after returning to his best free-throw record, Halaand hit back at Keene, saying, «I don't really care about the man, so that's okay.»
The Keenes then resumed their feud on Sunday. Appearing as a pundit on Sky's coverage of Liverpool's match against Tottenham, the Irishman described Haaland's disgruntled behavior on the bench after footage showed him gesticulating and kicking off his sock straps after being substituted on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola said the Norwegian was disappointed that referee Craig Pawson did not address Wolves' rough handling of him.But that explanation fell on deaf ears from Keane, who told Sky Haaland's behavior was unacceptable . «Yesterday we saw Haaland taken away not very happy and he acted like a spoiled child,» Keane said. «But because they win the game and he scores goals, it's almost forgotten.»
When David Jones, the presenter, said it was «good» to be a spoiled brat «if you score four goals,» Keane glared looked at him with an icy stare and replied: «No, not really.»
City manager Guardiola said Haaland's performance, which included two penalties, a stunning header and a quick strike from range, was proof of the Norwegian striker » back in action.»
He has scored seven goals in his last four league matches as City responded to Arsenal's 3-0 win over Bournemouth earlier in the day by moving into within one point. leaders with a game in hand.
