MOSCOW, May 30The head of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theaters, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Valery Gergiev assured Russian President Vladimir Putin that the teams of both theaters are doing and will do a lot for the regions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin presents state awards on Thursday in the Kremlin. Gergiev was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
“Although we are in difficult times, we are in a very dynamic situation, and I, as the head of two, without exaggeration, great Russian theaters with a huge history, I want to assure you that a lot will be done and is already being done by collectives, especially for the regions Russia,” Gergiev said at the state awards ceremony.
Gergiev added that theater troupes have returned from a joint trip to 25 regions of Russia.
