The large frame SUV has debuted as a concept, but such an all-terrain vehicle is expected to make it to the assembly line.
Shortly before the opening of the Shanghai Motor Show, the Jetour brand, owned by Chery, held another presentation for local specialized media. As part of the event, the brand once again clarified the main milestones of its further development, but most importantly, the journalists were shown a new conceptual SUV T-3.
The prototype has the same brutal look as another recent Jetour premiere — Traveler (or Traveler, with one l). But if the latter outwardly echoes the Ford Bronco and Land Rover Defender, then the show car evokes more thoughts of the GMC Hummer. And yet, as the Chinese media write, the Jetur presented today has a frame structure, while the Traveler, despite its “off-road” image, is an ordinary crossover with a monocoque body. By the way, about the harbinger of Traveler — T-X (then it was renamed T-1) — some Chinese media also reported that it was a frame one, and a cross reached the conveyor. However, the commercial incarnation of the T-3 should still turn out to be an all-terrain vehicle: at least the frames in Jetour's plans are definitely listed (including pickups).
The concept is devoid of a central pillar, the rear doors swing open against the direction of travel, but the production version will certainly not have this goodness. According to preliminary data, the length of the Jetour T-3 is approximately 5.3 meters (it is not clear only — with or without a spare wheel), the width is about 2 meters, the height is 1.9 meters, the wheelbase is about 3 meters. For comparison, the length of a five-seat Jetour Traveler is approximately 4.78 meters (including the box on the tailgate). />
T-3 has a four-seater saloon, a “pedestal” is installed between two second-row seats. Other interior features include free-standing instrument and multimedia screens, a steering wheel with touch buttons and a massive tunnel.
According to preliminary data, the prototype got a hybrid unit with a total power of over 1300 hp. (but this is not accurate), but whether such a version will get on the conveyor is still a question. At the same time, it is believed that the serial SUV will still be offered in the form of a hybrid, “simple” gasoline versions may also be.

Jetour has not yet given a precise date for the T-3 to become a marketable vehicle. It is possible that an SUV based on the concept will debut in 2024. As for the brand's other new products, Traveler sales will begin in China in the third quarter of this year, the premiere of the improved X70 and X90 crossovers (they will have hybrid versions) is still ahead, as well as some brutal compact SUV, known so far under the X-2 index.
Recall that the Jetour brand has almost landed in Russia: a local website has already been launched, by the start of sales crossovers Dashing (Dasheng in China) and X90 Plus are being prepared. Subsequently, Traveler may reach us, and the future SUV based on the T-3 concept in the Russian Federation would have good prospects.
