The new crossover GAC GS8, which will soon appear in Russia, received an «off-road» version

Of course, the new version has a more impressive look, while the technique has been transferred from the standard model.

In Russia the first generation GAC GS8 crossover is still presented, while in China since 2021 they have been selling the “second” SUV. Recall that at home, the GAC concern uses the Trumpchi brand. The second generation cross turned out to be more successful than its predecessor. So, according to local media, last year the model sold almost 57,500 copies against 15,810 in 2021. And soon the fans of the GS8 may increase: an “off-road” version has been prepared for it, which they called the Traveler (hello, Jetour!).

According to the genre, the new rendition excels in exterior design. The GAC Trumpchi GS8 Traveler got an even more impressive grille and bumpers, LED running lights lined up in columns at the front, and a “squared” box at the stern. Instead of the usual emblems, the GAC inscriptions flaunt on the car. In addition, more developed roof rails and additional — diode — «lamps» were installed on the roof.

It is not yet known how the new body kit affected the dimensions of the GS8. The length of the base crossover is 4980 mm, the width is 1950 mm, the height is 1780 mm, the distance between the axles is 2920 mm. Passport ground clearance — 200 mm.

The manufacturer has not yet shown the interior of the Trumpchi GS8 Traveler. Most likely, inside the new version repeated the standard SUV, except that they could change the finishing materials.

«Celestial» specialized media write that, like the base crossover, the «off-road» version is equipped with a 2.0 TGDI petrol turbo engine with a capacity of 252 hp. (400 Nm), which is paired with the classic eight-speed automatic Aisin. It is likely that the GS8 Traveler is all-wheel drive by default (the “simple” cross also has front-wheel drive versions). Public demonstration of the Trumpchi GS8 Traveler will be held at the Shanghai Auto Show, which opens on April 18.

Meanwhile, the second generation GAC crossover should officially enter the Russian market: According to preliminary information, such a GS8 will reach the Russian Federation before the end of this spring. It is possible that later they will bring an “off-road” version to us.
