The family of shot cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of Alec Baldwin's film « Rust in a Western will still sue the actor despite the fact that the criminal charges against him were dropped.

On Thursday, New Mexico prosecutors dismissed a manslaughter charge against the Hollywood star, saying they need more time to investigate.

But a lawyer representing the Hutchins family said Baldwin «cannot escape responsibility»; for her death.

Hutchins, 42, was killed and director Joel Souza, 49, was shot in October 2021 when a gun Baldwin was holding on a set in the New Mexico desert went off live bullet.

65-year-old Baldwin has already made a deal with her widower and son.

Baldwin denied pulling the trigger, but a subsequent FBI report concluded that the bullet could not have been fired without pulling the trigger.

"I don't know what happened on that set site. I don't know how that bullet hit that gun. I don't know " he said after the shooting.

Baldwin tweeted that «there are no words to convey my shock and sadness at the tragic incident.»

If found guilty, the actor would face up to 18 months in prison.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, the film's gunsmith, still faces two counts of manslaughter.

< p>Gloria Allred, attorney representing Hutchins' mother, Olga Solovey, father, Anatoly Androsovich, and sister Svetlana Zemko said they intended to «win» for the family.

«Despite the prosecutor's decision to dismiss the criminal charge against Alec Baldwin without prejudice, the Alec Baldwin victims we represent remain hopeful.» — said in a statement.

Baldwin was photographed on the set of «Rasta» after the resumption of filming in Montana, almost 18 months after filming.

The actor was again seen in a suit. like his character Harland Rust, wearing a shirt, vest, boots and a cravat.

"Mr. Baldwin can pretend he wasn't responsible for pulling the trigger and ejecting the live bullet that killed Galina& #39; life. He can run away to Montana and pretend he's just an actor from a wild west movie, but in real life he can't get away from the fact that he starred in a tragedy that had real life repercussions.» said Mrs. Allred.

Joel Souza, director of the film, called the resumption of filming «bittersweet»; and said that he would finish the film «on behalf of Galina».

Excerpts from a documentary about Hutchins' life will be filmed simultaneously with Rust.
