The compact SUV is offered with two engines to choose from. So far, the model can only be bought in the manufacturing homeland, but later the novelty will reach other countries.
A small “five-door” Suzuki Fronx was revealed in January of this year: the presentation was held in India, where production was established — the company Maruti Suzuki (“daughter” of the Japanese company) is responsible for the release. In the manufacturing homeland, preliminary applications began to be accepted almost immediately after the premiere, and now prices have been announced there and sales have started. By the way, in India, the model is considered “premium”, it is presented in a separate Nexa dealer network (Suzuki’s “premium” cars also include S-Cross/SX4 and Ignis SUVs, XL6 crossover, Baleno hatchback and Ciaz sedan).
Suzuki Fronx is positioned as a brand new coupe crossover. However, the “five-door” was not developed “from scratch”, before us is the “off-road” version of the Baleno hatch, which underwent a full restyling last year. At the same time, the company did not limit itself to hanging an unpainted body kit: almost all body panels were replaced, in addition, Fronx received a two-story head optics, and the taillights were made in the form of a single die. In addition, the SUV has 16-inch wheels by default, while Baleno's initial configurations are offered with 15-inch ones. But inside Fronx as a whole repeated the source, the difference is only in the details.
The length of the crossover is 3995 mm, which is only 5 mm more than the original Indian hatchback. Fronx added 20 mm (1765 mm) to the width, the height was increased by 50 mm to 1550 mm. The wheelbase of the cars is the same — 2520 mm. The trunk volume of the SUV is 308 liters instead of 318 liters for the hatchback.
In India, the Suzuki Fronx is available with a choice of two petrol engines. The base one came from the hatch — this is a four-cylinder “aspirated” Dual Jet K12N 1.2, it produces 90 hp. and is combined with a five-speed «mechanics» or a robotic box. The second engine is a “turbo engine” 1.0 Boosterjet with a capacity of 100 hp, which is paired with a 5MKP or a classic six-speed “automatic”. It should be noted that the pre-reform Suzuki Baleno had a turbo engine in the “sported” version of the RS, but they did not expand the range of the restyled “five-door” (the hatch no longer has a “sporty” version). The crossover has only front-wheel drive.

Well, the top cross is a two-tone body color, six airbags, a head-up display, all-round cameras, cruise control, wireless charging for a smartphone and multimedia with a 9-inch tablet.
Suzuki Fronx with aspirated 1.2 are asking for 746,500 — 927,500 rupees, which is equivalent to about 742,000 — 921,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. An SUV with a 1.0 turbo engine will cost 972,500 — 1,313,500 rupees (about 966,000 — 1,305,000 rubles). For comparison, the original Suzuki Baleno hatchback now costs from 661,000 rupees (656,000 rubles). Meanwhile, recently another Suzuki made-in-India model hit the global market: the Grand Vitara went on sale as a crossover. Well, it is possible that later both new SUVs will be brought to Russia — under the parallel import scheme.
