The Russian assets of the Finnish concern Nokian Tires, which decided to leave our market, are now owned by Tatneft PJSC: the deal was closed at the end of March this year. And today the name change of the local tire manufacturer and the rebranding of its products were officially announced, as under the terms of the license agreement, the company cannot use all the trademarks owned by Nokian, with the exception of Nordman. So, now the company is called Ikon or Ikon Tires (“Ikon Tiers”), the main brand has the same name.
“The name is consonant with the English word icon, which can be translated into Russian as “standard”, “sign image”, “sample”, “idol”, “icon”. The new Ikon name is worthy of a leading company in the Russian tire market,” says Ikon Tires in a release.
