Patch, «the fattest cat in the world», finally went on a diet

Weighting 18.3 kg (40.3 lb), Patch became an internet sensation when he was given up for adoption by the Richmond Animal Care and Control Company in Virginia.

Almost three times as heavy as a normal domestic shorthair cat, this is a big boy.

“It was given away by its owner who couldn’t take care of it anymore,” Christy Peters, director of the Richmond Animal Care and Control Center, told The Telegraph. the biggest cat I have ever seen.

“He was too big for a cage and lived in the office of one of our employees.

“We ran diagnostic tests. on him and he's perfectly healthy.»

The Picky Eater

It was thought that he may have eaten human rather than cat food. But, Ms. Peters added, he's not a glutton.

«He's actually quite picky.»

The cat seems to be very picky about food. an owner who could bring him to a healthier weight.

Patches 'up to 38 pounds'

The patches were accepted in minutes, capturing the heart of Kay Ford.

Ms. Ford previously tried to adopt a round cat from Pennsylvania, but someone else adopted the cat.

After applying to the shelter, she wrote: “I am very flexible, retired, have a lot of home, and I am willing to dedicate time and resources to help Patches achieve the goal you all have set.

“The Patches can actually be a great inspiration for me. Maybe we can lose weight together.

«I'm not unhealthy overweight, but I've gained 20 pounds during the pandemic and I'd like to lose that weight.»
