New Skoda Kodiaq and Superb are preparing to debut: official photos

Both generational models will retain petrol and diesel engines, and hybrid versions will also be offered to buyers.

First Teasers for the next Kodiaq and Superb were distributed by Skoda at the end of April, and now branded photos of camouflaged prototypes have appeared: these pictures were taken during tests of cars near the Arctic Circle. By the way, Superb is captured only in the station wagon, but there will also be a new liftback. Well, let us recall that the outgoing, first generation Skoda Kodiaq crossover has been in service since 2016, in 2021 it underwent restyling. The current «five-door» Skoda Superb (third generation) debuted back in 2015, they were last updated in 2019.

Judging by the photo, a radical change in image is not worth waiting for — rather, it is an evolution of Skoda's current exterior design. Kodiak, for example, will even leave additional sections under the headlights, although the shape of the optics will change. The dimensions also probably won't change much. The length of the current Skoda Kodiaq SUV is 4697 mm, the wheelbase is 2790 mm. The length of the current Skoda Superb liftback is 4869 mm, the station wagon is shorter by 7 mm, the distance between the axles is 2841 mm.

There are no pictures of the interior yet, however, and the available footage shows that both models will receive a new multimedia system with a touchscreen stuck to the front panel, like the latest Skoda Octavia and Fabia. Note that the Chinese Skoda Kodiaq has a similar tablet today, but it is far from certain that the second-generation cross will reach the Middle Kingdom: the Czech brand is not doing well there, it is possible that the brand will leave this market altogether.

It has been officially announced that the new generation Kodiaq and Superb will retain petrol and diesel engines. In addition, both models will receive a «mild» and rechargeable hybrid version (the hybrid version will be new for the Kodiak, the Superb already has a PHEV version).

The premiere of the «second» Skoda Kodiaq and «fourth» Superb will be completed this fall. In 2023, Skoda will also introduce a restyled European Kamiq SUV and a Scala hatchback. But from next year, new electric cars will begin to appear in the range. Skoda cars will obviously now be delivered to Russia only under the parallel import scheme.
