Mikko Salovaara, former CFO of Revolut, has stepped down.
The text exchange, still from The Telegraph, suggests that Mr. Radford accidentally sent messages intended for someone else to a disgruntled customer.
In a complaint, the client alleged that Mr. Radford sent him a March 24 message that said, «Don't worry. , I will sit in the garden with a shotgun and wait for him.”
This message has since been deleted.
The exchange was started by a client who sent many messages and voice messages. to Mr. Radford's personal phone complaining about his case.
It also shows Mr. Radford discussing undisclosed client account details.
One of the messages said: «[The client] said he would not stop [sending me messages], so [I'm] glad that they gave him [a bird].»
At that time, the client had not yet been informed that his account Revolut Business entry closes, according to documents seen by The Telegraph.
Mr. Radford, who joined the fintech giant as chief executive in the UK in 2020, left the company in early April and resigned as UK director of Revolut on April 14, according to Companies House filings.
A source close to the company said the complaint had nothing to do with Mr. Radford's departure. He has taken on a new leadership role in Lycamobile's telecommunications business.
Revolut's culture has caught the attention of regulators, although company sources insist it is becoming more professional.
The business was valued at $33bn in a funding round in 2021, making it the UK's largest private company in that moment.
Schroders, one of Revolut's investors, estimated earlier this year that it would be worth 46 percent less than the impact of the tech industry turmoil.
2503 Estimate
A former Revolut executive who worked with Mr. Radford said his departure was a «big loss» for the financial application and had more serious consequences than Mr. Salovaara's resignation.
They added: » [Mr Radford] has been actively involved in the process of applying for a [banking] license, which continues to be delayed. It is useless when the leader you name on the application who has earned a reputation with the regulators suddenly resigns.”
Although Revolut already has a banking license in Lithuania, obtaining such a license in the UK domestic market is considered a key milestone in helping it gain approval elsewhere in the world.
Revolut declined to comment on the complaint against Mr. Radford. . Mr. Radford did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
In a statement released by Revolut regarding his departure, Mr. Radford said: “I am leaving Revolut after three incredible years working alongside some of the best and smartest industry experts. I fully expect the company to continue to push the boundaries of personal and business finance, and I look forward to following its progress from afar.»
Richard Holmes, Chairman of Revolut UK, said: “James' hard work and dedication in this position has been exemplary and we thank him for his contributions to the establishment of the UK division and advancing our application for a UK banking license. , as well as building a team of talented and driven banking professionals who will continue to make waves in the industry.”
