'Cultural Marxism' destroys children's souls and leads to an increase in self-harm and suicide, says Conservative MP.
Miriam Cates, who represents the Red Wall area in Peniston and Stocksbridge, said that teaching critical racial theory and concepts in schools is responsible for higher rates of various mental illnesses.
She told the National Conference on Conservatism that it is not surprising that fewer young people choose to become parents because they themselves have not had «hope for the future».
“That hope is sadly fading away today for many of our young people,” Ms Cates said. «Because liberal individualism has proved completely powerless to resist cultural Marxism, which systematically destroys our children's souls.»
“When culture, schools and universities openly teach that our country is racist, our heroes are villains, humanity is killing the Earth, you are what you desire, diversity is theology, borders are tyranny, and self-restraint is oppression, is that marvelous? that mental disorders, self-mutilation and suicide, and epidemic levels of anxiety and confusion, are characteristic of the younger generation?» ”, stating that it is based on “a conspiracy theory based on anti-Semitism.”
But Yoram Khazoni, conference chair and Orthodox Jewish theologian, said the term was «an apt phrase to describe the cultural program promoted by many on the left today» and insisted that it «does not offer a platform for anti-Semites.»
Ms. Cates said that as a result, liberal ideology is «literally dying» because children who are not taught to be proud of their country's history have less desire to continue it.
At the beginning of her speech, she stated that the decline in the birth rate in the UK poses an even greater danger to Western society than Vladimir Putin's Russia or the increase in global temperatures.
«None of our philosophical reflections or political proposals will lead to something permanent if we do not eliminate one overarching threat to British conservatism and to all Western society.
“No, it's not climate change, it's not Russia, China or Iran. It is not neo-Marxist ideology that has so weakened our institutions. No, there is one important outcome that liberal individualism has failed to deliver, and that is children.”
Ms Cates also made her strongest critique of the government's childcare proposal to date, arguing for a policy package , including an extension by Jeremy Hunt. free childcare in the spring budget “devalues the crucial role of motherhood.”
“This childcare policy implies that the main role of the mother should be to contribute to the GDP, while her child transferred to the state.
