Rachel Johnson says Checkers 'followed all the rules' amid new allegations against her brother of violating Covid lockdown rules.

Speaking on LBC on Monday night, Ms Johnson said: «If he has any questions, which he must answer, he will definitely answer them.

While little is known about the assemblies at the heart of the latest development, one source familiar with them said there were "a handful" events. Another said "more than ten".

Mr Johnson's spokesman said: «Some abridged entries in the official Mr. Johnson's message, the diary was requested by the Cabinet in preparation for the Covid investigation.
"After examining the records, Mr. Johnson's lawyers wrote to the Cabinet and the privileges committee, explaining that the events were legal and there were no violations of any Covid rules."
The spokesman added: “The Cabinet’s assertion that there have been further violations of Covid rules is completely untrue.
"No contact was made with Mr. Johnson prior to these false allegations being made to both the police and the privileges committee. This is both bizarre and unacceptable.
"For whatever political purposes, this is clearly a last-ditch effort to prolong the Privilege Committee investigation while it nears completion and undermine Mr. Johnson.
'Another politically motivated stitching'
The spokesman said Mr. Johnson's lawyers had written to the police to explain in detail why the Cabinet was «completely wrong in their allegations.»
"All the activities in question were within the rules, either because they were outdoors or were subject to some other legal exception. These include regular meetings with civil servants and advisers.
"Many will think that this has all the hallmarks of another politically motivated blackmail,” they added.
