Transgender winner
Ricky Valerie Kolle, 22, a transgender woman, won the Miss Netherlands pageant on July 8. She will now continue to represent her country in the Miss Universe pageant.
Miss Italy winners do not participate in the Miss Universe pageant, which is awarded to the winner of another page. Miss Colle has been named Miss Universe Italy.
Miss Colle, who has enjoyed an explosion on social media since her triumph, will be the second transgender woman to compete in Miss Universe after she changed her rules in 2012.
