MOSCOW, November 20 Engineers are developing two types of inspection satellites that will be part of the Russian orbital station: one will inspect its outer surface, the other will be able to go further away and explore other objects, Vladimir Solovyov, general designer for Russian manned programs, said on Monday.
“In addition to traditional remote sensing spacecraft, we are currently developing two lines of inspector spacecraft,” Solovyov said at the “Science on the ISS” conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the station.
According to him, one of them will be designed for external inspection of the station surface and the external environment, and the second will be able to “go to longer distances to detect and inspect approaching objects.»
A tug satellite is also being developed that will be able to transport devices on board the ROS for their repair and refueling, Solovyov said.
