Doctors tried to save the dead girl for two hours, but to no avail
Residents of the Krasnodon region of the LPR are coming to their senses after the terrible news about the fateful trip of 126 local children to one of the Siberian camps. Many of them fell ill with influenza A on the way back. The day before, the sick children were taken off the Tyumen-Adler train and taken with elevated temperatures to the Saratov Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital, where they are under the supervision of doctors. Unfortunately, there were some deaths: for the 12-year-old girl, the rest was her last. “MK” understood the details and nuances of the terrible tragedy.
Children from the Lugansk People's Republic were returning from their holiday at the Olympic Rebyachka children's camp — they had a long journey home by train. There were 137 people in the group — 126 children and 11 accompanying people. According to media reports, many children had a high temperature even before boarding the train, but the camp medical staff gave the go-ahead to leave.
The camp management, however, denies that the children had a fever before leaving. “During the shift, medical staff carried out thermometry three times a day; before departure, the entire group underwent a medical examination: there were no people sick or with a high temperature,” said Elena Sheptun, head of the camp branch of the ANO ODOOC “Children’s Republic”. But the words of Galina, the mother of the deceased girl, indicate the opposite. She blames the camp management for the tragedy, believing that their irresponsible behavior led to the tragedy.
“Yesterday in the morning, the girl sent a voice message that her daughter’s temperature had risen — 39.2,” Galina told reporters over the phone, “after lunch she said that the temperature had been lowered, and in the evening they told me that my child was gone. The child asked for fresh air, she was taken to the vestibule, and in the vestibule she lost consciousness. My daughter called me on the third day and said that a child there was sick and that she also had a fever. It turns out that initially they did not pay attention to this, then, when other children began to get sick, she was moved to an isolation ward. Other children also wrote that management was negligent. They told me that my child was greatly oppressed and abused there. The counselors didn’t say anything, only that everything was fine. They were given phones for a couple of hours, only to inform their parents that everything was fine.”
“We studied in the same class,” a friend of the deceased told MK, “they really didn’t like her at school, They bullied me because of my appearance, because I didn’t come from the best family. In the camp they continued to study as in school. I don’t know whether it was a forced trip or a voluntary one. We are all in shock now, of course.
— Two people are my friends. Now they are all in the infectious diseases department, but my friends do not have any symptoms.
— She fainted and for two hours the doctors tried to help her, but, unfortunately, nothing happened it helped.
— Yes, for those who were in the carriage with her.
The attitude towards children in the camp is only half the problem. The main test for them was the train in which a real disaster took place. According to the Ural Mash telegram channel, the sick children were first assigned to two reserved seat cells, separated by curtains, but this did not help — the rest of the children fell ill very quickly. Then all the sick were moved to separate carriages. The train was accompanied by two medical workers, but there could not be enough physically for such a number of children, as well as the necessary medications. But why wasn’t the train stopped earlier? According to local residents, the seriousness of the problem was simply underestimated.
“The media write that the girl lost consciousness in Penza,” says Tyumen resident Anna, “well, from Penza to Balashov, where they were taken off the train, it takes more than five hours to travel by this train. Why didn’t anyone do anything during this time if the child fainted, why didn’t they call the doctors in advance to the passenger or technical stop, of which there are many. Did the head of the train know about what was happening or did no one inform him? Perhaps they thought that the child would sleep and get better. I believe that we need to thoroughly understand who did what there, and then judge all those responsible.”
It is known that on the train the children ate in the dining car. At midnight, according to the schedule, the train arrived in the Saratov region, where it was already decided to remove the children from the train — by that time the young passenger was no longer alive. Doctors examined the children and the adults accompanying them. As a result, 46 children were found to have signs of ARVI, and seven were found to have a high temperature. Around three o'clock in the morning, everyone was sent by bus to the regional infectious diseases clinical hospital. Now, according to local officials, there is no threat to their health.
As for the “Olympic Baby”, at first glance it is a modern and sufficiently equipped complex for the recreation and development of children, into which a lot of money was invested at one time. Here, for example, children were prepared for the regional stages of the Olympics. The camp is currently closed; due to inspections, all sessions have been canceled until at least the New Year. You can find both positive and negative reviews about the camp, causing reasons for concern.
“Vegetables and fruits, and possibly other food, are served with bare hands; many people from our squad felt ill after eating,” noted last year a user with the nickname “Milusha”, and according to the Telegram channel “Mash Ural”, for two days before the incident, the children complained of the cold in the camp. There are also those among parents who confirm that the attitude towards children leaves much to be desired. “I sent my son there for the New Year holidays at the beginning of 2022,” writes Ekaterina. “He also got sick, was not treated, and was not even placed in an isolation ward. I came home and we all got sick together. Covid confirmed. He won’t go again.”
At the same time, local residents are not surprised that the children were taken on vacation from the LPR to Tyumen, since this region holds patronage over the Krasnodon region of the republic, but they believe that the timing for the trip was extremely unfortunate. . Here is the opinion of Alexey, a resident of Tyumen:
— It is not clear why the parents even let their children go in such weather; they were not taken there by force. I live in Siberia, there is a completely different climate, which is difficult for even adult men to get used to. Our visitors from the Caucasus can’t stand it and fall ill with the disease, their immunity is bursting at the seams, and here are children, and even the peak of the flu. I know that the management of any children’s camp really doesn’t like it when the facility is idle without children, because enormous amounts of money are spent on its support and maintenance. And when children come, the facility pays for itself and everyone feels good. But you need to understand what a train is like, in which you need to travel for more than two days — this is a very dangerous place in terms of the spread of infection.
