The company explained that changes to the exterior are designed to improve aerodynamic characteristics and handling, as well as improve the range of the “green” compact .
As part of the Atom project, it is planned to develop and produce a Russian completely “green” car; it is being carried out by the Kama company, registered in Naberezhnye Chelny in 2021. The implementation of this project started in the summer of 2021, the first teaser of the future new product appeared in the fall of 2022, and the full debut of the “electric train” in concept status took place in May last year. Now the manufacturer has shown a new design of a compact electric car.

The exterior was changed to bring the future model closer to the production version. Compared to last year’s concept, the electric train’s body shape was adjusted, the slope of the elongated front part was changed, as well as the profile of the rear edge of the hood. Another updated design of the Atom involves different wheel arches, new exterior mirrors and a different design of the active plug located in place of the traditional radiator grille.
The developers have redesigned the headlight unit of the future Atom and changed the contour of the LED strip of running lights: behind it there is a radar and a camera operating as part of the ADAS 2.0+ driver assistance system. The electric car was left with swing doors, the hinge design was strengthened and the shape of the rear doors was adjusted. They also added an electric opening drive, and the retractable rear door handles were eventually replaced with buttons.
The rear of the “electric train” also received a number of changes: the future model received an updated spoiler located on the top of the tailgate: it looks like an extension of the roof and, according to the company, gives the compact a “sporty look.” For the future model, the diffuser was changed and the rear pillar was modified, which delimits air flows.
As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, the length of the Atom will be 3995 mm, width – 1780 mm, and height – 1615 mm; The distance between the axles has not yet been revealed. It is known that the ground clearance of the “green” hatchback is 170 mm. It will receive a MacPherson strut front suspension and an independent multi-link rear suspension. The turning radius is 4.9 meters. The electric car will be equipped with 215×55 wheels, for the starting version a size of 17 inches is provided, and options of sizes 18 and 19 inches will be offered optionally.
The Atom will be equipped with a single 204-horsepower electric motor located on the rear axle. The future hatchback will need no more than eight seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds”. The company has not yet talked about the maximum speed of the five-door. It is assumed that in the future the new product may have versions with all-wheel drive and a dual-engine power plant.
The capacity of the Atom's traction battery is 77 kWh, the range on one charge will be 500 km (when calculated using the WLTC cycle). Charging ports are GB/T, the company guarantees 1000 charging cycles. It has not yet been reported how long it will take for the battery to “refill” completely, but it is known that the electric car can be quickly charged in eight minutes, which should be enough for a range of up to 100 km; up to 80% of the battery is replenished in half an hour.
According to the plan, serial production of the Russian electric car will start in 2025 The production of Atom is planned to be launched at the facilities of the capital's Moskvich plant (this site previously belonged to Renault). Prices for the new product will be announced later.
