In 2024, the cost of a date on February 14 will increase by 10%

Every year, the Tinkoff Data analytical project calculates the Tinkoff Romantic Index, which shows how much an average date costs on Valentine's Day. Analysts studied the transactions of Tinkoff clients over the past five years and compiled a spending forecast for February 14, 2024. This year, the cost of a date will increase by 10% compared to last year. And it will cost the residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ufa the most to celebrate February 14.

The calculation of the index took into account the spending of Russians on an average date. The date includes dinner in a cafe or restaurant for two, movie tickets, flowers and two taxi rides.

The Tinkoff Romantic Index forecast for 2024 was calculated using an AI analytics service and ETNA forecasting.

In 2024, the cost of a date will increase by 10% compared to the previous year and amount to 6,094 rubles. At the same time, inflation in Russia for 2023, according to Rosstat, amounted to 7.42%. Over the past five years, the Tinkoff Romantic Index has grown by 42%.

For Muscovites, a date on February 14 will cost the most — 9,185 rubles. Residents of St. Petersburg and Ufa will spend an average of 7,206 and 6,607 rubles on a date. respectively. The top five in terms of cost of a date also included Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don, where the Tinkoff Romantic Index will be 6,562 and 6,287 rubles. accordingly.

Residents of Perm are still the cheapest to celebrate a holiday — the cost of an average date will be 4919 rubles.

Ufa became the leader in the growth of the cost of a date in 2024 — over the year the index grew by 18%. In second place in terms of growth of the indicator are Krasnoyarsk and Krasnodar — 15% each. The index grew the least in Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd — 4% and 6%, respectively

Since February 14 last year, average checks have increased in all categories, but the greatest growth occurred in the category » taxi» and amounted to 25%.

How the index was calculated

The calculation of the index was based on impersonal transactions of Tinkoff clients in cities with a population of over a million: the amount of average purchase receipts in the categories “taxi”, “restaurants”, “flowers”, “cinema”, which were made on February 14 for the period from 2019 to 2023.
