MOSCOW, February 17 The Swedish men's biathlon team became the winner 4×7.5 km relay at the World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.
The Swedish team, which included Victor Brandt, Jesper Nelin, Martin Ponsiluoma and Sebastian Samuelsson, covered the distance in 1 hour 16 minutes 22.6 seconds, using 9 additional cartridges. Second were the Norwegians Sturla Holm Lægreid, Tarjei and Johannes Boe, Vetle Sosta Christiansen, who took three penalties at the last shooting range and deprived the team, which was a minute ahead of the Swedes, of leadership and victory (11.8 seconds behind; 4 penalties and 11 additional cartridges).
The third place was taken by the Frenchmen Eric Perrault, Fabien Claude, Emilien Jacquelin and Quentin Fillon-Maillet (+12.8; 3+13).
Earlier, the Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) decided to uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine.
