Zak Crawley was run out in England's second innings despite Hawkeye's replay suggesting the ball would have missed the stumps
England captain Ben Stokes called for the 'umpire's call' in the decision review system to be scrapped after his side suffered a humiliating 434-run defeat in the third Test against India.
Stokes' side slumped to 122, recording their heaviest loss by runs since the Second World War and their second-worst ever after Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second double century in as many Tests.
A terrible defeat leaves England. 2-1 with a mountain to climb and two more Tests to play, the series started strongly by winning the first match in Hyderabad.
For the second time in as many Tests after defeat, Stokes took aim at the technology used to determine whether a batsman is out. He and England coach Brendon McCullum were seen having a heated conversation with International Cricket Council match referee New Zealander Geoff Crowe at the end of the game.
Stokes said they questioned Zak Crawley's marginal leg before the dismissal. Jasprit Bumrah because a projection was shown on television where the ball appeared to miss the stumps.

After England lost by 106 runs in Visakhapatnam, Stokes questioned the technology for another Crawley LBW, this time to Kuldeep Yadav.
While he doesn't blame umpiring decisions and technology for England's crushing defeat, Stokes did call for the umpire's decision, which operates due to the predictive (and therefore not infallible) nature of ball-tracking technology, to be overturned. The judge's call also helps preserve human judgment in the decision-making process.
“We just wanted to provide some clarity on Zach’s DRS when the images come back,” Stokes said. “On the replay, the ball clearly missed the stumps. So when the umpire called for a ball and the ball didn't actually hit the stumps, we were a little puzzled. We just wanted a little clarity from Hawkeye. He came back and reported that the numbers showed he had hit the stumps, but that was the wrong projection. I do not know what it means. Something went wrong.
“I think when the people in charge say something has gone wrong, that in itself is enough.
“We were on the wrong end. of the three referees calls this play and this is part of the DRS. You're either on the right side or the wrong side. Unfortunately, we ended up on the wrong side. I am not saying and will never say that this is why we lost this game because 500 is a lot of runs.

Stokes said England's defeat «hurts» but said he remains hopeful that they can win the series.
“Losing a Test match always hurts, you don't want to end up on the losing side. You don't want to get knocked out for that amount when you're racing,” Stokes said.
“Writing it off doesn't do justice to the professionalism of the players in the dressing room. You have to learn from disappointments, but use them in a positive way, without letting them consume you. I've played 100 Test matches now and I know that thinking too deeply about certain things can send you into a downward spiral. It's about what we do in the next two games.
“It doesn't always work out the way we want, but we still have a great chance of winning the trophy with a 3-2 scoreline.

England, and especially Joe Root, have done well. came under fire for their third day's play in Rajkot, but Stokes didn't question the attacking approach, just the 'execution'.
