IRKUTSK, March 22In Irkutsk, a former deputy minister of health was detained in a criminal case of abuse of power and negligence, the Office of the Prosecutor General for the Siberian Federal District reports on the Telegram channel.
Following the results of a personal meeting with Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia Dmitry Demeshin in Irkutsk, a criminal case was opened in connection with abuse of authority in the procurement of medicines for cancer patients.
It was established that when purchasing the painkiller drug Tramadol, the Ministry of Health of the Irkutsk Region entered into government contracts for the supply of the drug in quantities significantly exceeding the needs of medical organizations. According to the Investigative Committee, in October 2019, 35 million rubles were spent from the budget on the purchase of 450 thousand packages. After the expiration date, most of the drug was destroyed. The damage is estimated at 25 million rubles. A criminal case was initiated under articles of negligence and abuse of power causing grave consequences.
«Investigative actions are currently underway, the former Deputy Minister of Health has been detained,» the message says.
It is noted that the investigation establishes the involvement of other officials in the crime.
