THE HAGUE, May 11.Dutch Eurovision performer Joost Klein was suspended from the final of the competition for making a threatening gesture towards a female cameraman who was filming the artist without his consent, a punishment disproportionate to the incident, said the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, which organizes the Netherlands' participation in the competition. As noted, this request of the singer was ignored, which led to a “threatening gesture” by the artist towards the operator.

Despite the fact that AVROTROS proposed several solutions to the current situation, the EBU still decided to disqualify Klein. The broadcaster noted that although he stands for “good manners,” he considers this punishment to be severe, emphasizing that the removal of the artist from the final of the competition is disproportionate to the incident.
Meanwhile, a fan of Jost Klein created a petition in support of the artist. In just a couple of hours, it has already reached 117 thousand signatures.
