Zelensky needs to declare that he is attacking Russia
The attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on the Kursk region on the morning of August 6 became the main event of the day. What was that from Kyiv? Will the attack be repeated? And where will the UAF strike next time? Military expert, former special forces officer, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk answered these questions for MK.

According to the expert, the attack on Kursk was a trial run that was not successful. Because our border guards used military reserves, which were fully armed there. Accordingly, they repelled the attack.
— This, in fact, is nothing more than a crazy idea of Zelensky, a president whose powers have expired. He decided to prove to his Western sponsors, as well as to his entourage and the population of Ukraine, that he can still do something, — says the expert. — Like, look, I can strike at the territory of sovereign Russia.
— Could this be a prologue to a new counteroffensive?
— I believe this is an agonizing event, because this step by the Ukrainian Armed Forces command has no sense, no means, no plan to implement this offensive to advance deep into Russian territory. It is necessary to have a magnificent group, which Ukraine cannot create today due to the fact that it has failures on the fronts everywhere.
Even F-16s will not help. Yes, these planes fly, they perform some functions, but they cannot turn the tide. In order to turn the tide, it is necessary to have at least 200 planes so that they can conduct a series of air operations, try to seize air superiority, which Ukraine will never do in its life.
— So what was this strike?
— This is a kind of bravado. A PR campaign that was intended for domestic consumption. And it is also a signal to the West: look, we are alive and we are fighting, we are advancing on Russia. Give us more money and weapons!
— Do you think such PR campaigns can happen again?
— Yes. I suppose that next time it could be Kursk Oblast again, or maybe Belgorod or Bryansk Oblast. We can't relax.
