David Moyes claimed his team's performance was much better than the 5-1 rout they got from Newcastle United as he promised to keep fighting as West Ham manager.< /p>
Moyes set to take charge of West Ham's clash against Fulham has only won two of his last eight games, leaving his side above the Premier League's relegation zone on goal difference.
It's clear that co-owner David Sullivan doesn't want to make a decision about Moyes' position before the weekend.
Moyes is getting his team ready for a trip to Craven Cottage on Saturday and the match looks increasingly like he could decide his future in the second period at West Ham, where he took the club to the semi-finals of a major European tournament and could still win. silver this season in the European Conference League.
'I love my job here'
After seeing his team concede five soft goals in front of their fans on Wednesday night, including a farcical third and fourth goals in the second half, Moyes refused to be overly critical of his players in an attempt to defend their fragile confidence.
West Ham were two goals behind due to poor defense, but pulled themselves together and confidently ended the first half, winning back a goal through Kurt Zouma.
But in the second half they collapsed, a terrible mistake by Nayef Agerd, who gave « Newcastle” the third ball 22 seconds after the restart.
«It was really difficult, I'm very disappointed,» said Moyes, who was booed and ridiculed by several thousand fans left in the London stadium as he walked through the tunnel.
«We really started well, and also we played and converted more chances than against Southampton. We gave away the first and second goals terribly, but not as bad as the third and fourth. This makes the task very difficult.
“We were competitive in the first half, we are back in the game. At 2-1 at half-time, I said we were right in the game, going out and doing the right thing, and within 15 or 20 seconds we gave ourselves the opportunity to climb the mountain, conceding the third goal.
» Now I have a new back four and it will take some time for the guys to get used to it.
«Everyone can make individual mistakes, but we were two in one game. It could hurt, but if we drew with Southampton and drew today, we would have two points and we have three points. I have to look at it in a positive light.»

However, Moyes has been in the game long enough to understand how questionable such a result can be for him and the team he leads.
«As a manager, you always have to sit here and look ahead. questions,” he added. "I'm a big boy and I've quit my job in the past and if that happens here I'll have to quit.
"But I really like my job here, I like the people I work for, and I enjoyed my time here. I hope we have a couple of big days in the not so distant future.»
Rice: «I love working with Moyes.»
Declan Rice, West Ham captain, given his manager's support, what could be it is important when the dust settles.
There was no suggestion that Moyes was no longer motivating his players. After all, this hard, humiliating defeat came just days after the decisive victory over Southampton, but it was how his team so often cut apart Newcastle, who have struggled to score goals since the start of the year. which will lead to the most concern.
“I like working with a manager,” says Rice. “Like the players. What a man he is, he is great for us.
“Fans speak their minds, but this is football. It's tough, we have to block out the noise and stay positive.
“In the dressing room, I didn't feel like that, feeling negative. It can't be with this bunch of guys.
“When you play for that badge, that shirt, the fans want desire and hard work. Today it was strange, with the score 2-0 we were still pushing. There was a real belief that we could get something at half-time.
“But the start of the second half [killed us], yes. The game felt really stretched out. Can't blame the guys' efforts, but five goals conceded is not what West Ham is built on.
