Last week, photo spies came across the most luxurious version of the upcoming updated executive sedan, which can get the Horch prefix. We imagined what the car would look like.
Horch is a German automobile manufacturer founded in 1904 by August Horch (who is also the founder of Audi). It is also one of the four companies (Horch, Audi, Wanderer, DKW) that formed the Auto Union company in 1932, and she received the famous emblem, consisting of four rings (according to the number of companies included in it). Subsequently, Auto Union reincarnated as Audi, and the Horch name became history. Over the past years, rumors have repeatedly appeared about the return of this name, in particular, for one of the Audi models. And now the likelihood of this event is very high, and it can be used for the most luxurious version of the restyled A8. If this happens, then in addition to the headlights of the new shape, the sedan with the Horch prefix will most likely receive the original grille, like the S-class in the Maybach version. Horch cars had a radiator grille with a lot of vertical bars, so in our render we depicted a similar design option.
The most characteristic feature of the samples of the new version of the G8 captured by photo spies is a significantly increased wheelbase, the entire increase of which went to the rear doors. Also noteworthy are the partially camouflaged rear door pillars, likely to feature the Horch logo. As for the rear, slightly modified lights with other LED elements will appear here, and the rear bumper can also be retouched. Well, for sure the most expensive version of the A8 will get the original wheels.
This car should compete with the aforementioned long-wheelbase Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedan. As you know, the current A8 will be the last generation of the model, on which the W12 engine will be installed, and it will certainly fit under the hood of the richest modification. Its characteristics are still unknown, in the previous generation of the G8, the W12 engine had a volume of 6.3 liters and developed a power of 500 hp. (625 Nm).
The premiere of the novelty is expected during this year.

Today in Russia the current «short» the A8 sedan is offered at a price of 7,491,000 rubles (45 TDI, 249 hp). The long-wheelbase version with the same engine is estimated at a minimum of 8,330,000 rubles. The most powerful sedan with the S8 index is presented only in a short-base version and is equipped with a 4-liter V8 with a capacity of 571 hp, the price of such a car will be 12,230,000 rubles. All variants are equipped with an automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.
