Avito Auto experts analyzed the statistics on the supply and demand of new and used cars on the platform in May 2023. According to the platform, consumer interest in used vehicles from Chinese manufacturers increased by 51.8% compared to the same period last year. Demand for new cars from the Middle Kingdom more than quadrupled year on year (311.6%).
At the same time, the share of Chinese models in the structure of supply of new cars on the platform in May 2023 reached 41.2%. For comparison, a year earlier, the figure was 11.2%. The share of models of Chinese manufacturers in the structure of the supply of used cars on Avito Auto in May 2023 amounted to 3.1% (in May 2022 — 22%).
Average price of cars with mileage of Chinese models in May 2023 , according to Avito Auto, amounted to 1,830,000 rubles, and the average price of new Chinese cars was 2,810,000 rubles.
“Cars from Chinese manufacturers are gaining more and more popularity in the Russian market. Over the past year, not only the share of the offer of cars from the Middle Kingdom has grown, but also the consumer interest in such cars: the number of announcements for the sale of cars from Chinese brands is growing in line with the increase in demand. State-of-the-art specs and growing build quality increase customer confidence. Thus, according to the results of an Avito Auto survey conducted in August 2022, 25% of car owners will prefer a new Chinese car to a used European car,” Avito Auto experts say.
From Haval Jolion to Haval F7: the most popular models from China on on the new car market
According to Avito Auto, the Haval Jolion with an average price of 2,349,000 rubles became the most demanded model from China on the new car market in May 2023. The model accounted for 12.4% of the total demand for new cars from Chinese manufacturers at Avito Auto.
OMODA C5 is in second place with a demand share of 9.2% and an average price of 2,780,000 rubles.
The third line of the rating is occupied by Geely Coolray with an average price of 2,500,000 rubles. The model accounted for 6.9% of the total demand for new cars from Chinese manufacturers on Avito Auto.
The fourth position is occupied by Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max with a share of demand of 6% (average price — 2,998,000 rubles), and the fifth — Chery Tiggo 4 Pro with a share of demand of 4.7% (average price — 2,330,000 rubles).
Also, in the top 10 most popular new car models on the market of Chinese brands in May 2023, there were (in descending order of share demand): Kaiyi E5, Haval F7x, Geely Tugella, Geely Monjaro and Haval F7.

The rating of the most popular Chinese models in the used car market in May 2023, according to Avito Auto, was headed by Chery Tiggo (T11) with an average price of 395,000 rubles and a demand share of 9.4%.
The second position is taken by LIFAN Solano with an average price of 290,000 rubles. The model accounted for 5.7% of the total demand for used cars from Chinese manufacturers on the platform.
The third place is occupied by Geely Emgrand EC7 with a demand share of 4.7% and an average price of 370,000 rubles.On the fourth line of the rating is Chery Amulet (A15), the average price was 115,000 rubles. The model accounted for 4.6% of the total demand for cars with mileage from Chinese manufacturers on the platform.
In fifth place is the LIFAN X60 with a demand share of 3.6% and an average price of 600,000 rubles.
Also included in the top 10 (in descending order of share of demand): Geely MK, Geely MK Cross, Geely Monjaro, LIFAN Breez (520) and Great Wall Hover H3.
