«Heated» sedan Omoda S5 GT for Russia: the first official photos

Eska with a completely different design will launch on our market this summer. The model will be offered with a 1.6 petrol turbo engine.

The Russian office of Omoda (the brand belongs to Chery) officially announced the GT version of the S5 sedan at the end of May. True, the brand did not share photos of the “sported” four-door car intended for the Russian Federation at that time. Now they have also appeared: these pictures show a car that arrived in Moscow, which will later be handed over to the new Omoda ambassador (name will be announced later). It was also announced that certification tests of the new version of the «eski» were completed in the Russian Federation.

Recall that the standard four-door Omoda S5 is a Chery Arrizo 5 Plus with a different emblem and nameplates (by the way, the original Chery sedan in China has recently been updated in the style of Omoda). The “heated” version is an analogue of the Chery Arrizo 5 GT, which debuted in China last year. Judging by the photo, outwardly the Russian GT version repeats the Chinese one. Well, the differences from a regular sedan are a Lexus-style grille, different headlights, more aggressive bumpers, black wheels and bright orange brake calipers.

There are no separate photos of the interior of the Omoda S5 GT for the Russian Federation yet, but the available frames show that inside our sedan also repeated the Chinese brother: a scoreboard (combined tidy and multimedia system screens) is installed in the cabin, which rises above the front panel.

In China, the Chery Arrizo 5 GT is offered with 1.5 and 1.6 petrol turbo fours with 156 and 197 hp. respectively. In Russia, the sedan will be available with a 1.6 turbo engine, which has been derated to a tax-friendly 150 hp. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. You can buy a standard Omoda S5 from us with a 1.5 engine (113 hp) or its turbo version (147 hp), both engines are equipped with a CVT.

The start of sales of the Omoda S5 GT is scheduled for August, prices and specifications will be revealed closer to this date. An ordinary «eska» today costs from 2,159,900 rubles (excluding special offers).
