Like the rest of the E-series, the single-cab will be available as a plug-in hybrid. The novelty will have a full-fledged premiere in the near future.
In the range of the Trumpchi brand, which is owned by the Chinese concern GAC, there have long been “simple” HEV hybrids (without the possibility of charging from the mains) and full-fledged electric cars. And this year, the brand also decided to master the segment of rechargeable hybrids PHEV. The first to enter the market was the Trumpchi E9 minivan, made on the basis of the second generation M8 (the predecessor in the Russian Federation is called the GAC GN8). Very soon, this MPV will be joined by the ES9 crossover, that is, the upgraded Trumpchi GS8. Well, the third model of the E-series will again be a minivan — with the E8 index, it will be simpler and more affordable than the «nine».
The GAC itself has only distributed a few branded images so far, while the interior is still completely lit up on teasers. However, the main inputs are already known, because earlier the E8 was “leaked” by the PRC Ministry of Industry.
The length of the «eight» is 4920 mm, width — 1900 mm, height — 1760 mm, wheelbase — 2930 mm. For comparison, the Trumpchi E9 dimensions are 5193/1893/1823 mm, the distance between the axles is 3070 mm. The exterior features of the younger Trumpchi E8 are “broken” dies on the radiator grille, LED “fangs” of running lights, a luminous dashed line across the entire width of the front and narrow headlights located under it, made in the form of a single die rear lights.
Salon E8 manufacturer compares with the living room, although the main attributes of this «room» — armchairs — GAC has not yet shown. Van will receive a compact virtual tidy (all indicators will be displayed by a projection display) and, conversely, a large tablet of a multimedia system. A separate “climate” control unit, apparently, is not provided, as well as a third display for the passenger (the E9 has one). According to the documents of the certification body, the installation will include aspirated 1.8 (133 hp), an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery (the E9 and ES9 have a two-liter turbo engine). The total return is not yet known, as is the battery capacity.

The GAC Trumpchi E8 PHEV minivan will hit the home market before the end of this year. The older Trumpchi E9 PHEV starts at about $45,000 today.
