MOSCOW, November 23. Actor Maxim Beletsky died in northern India at the age of 37, his body will not be returned to Russia, according to the page of the Republican Puppet Theater of Yoshkar-Ola on the VKontakte social network.
«The other day news arrived about the tragic death of actor Maxim Beletsky <…> in India. According to information from his relatives, he will be cremated and buried there,» the publication says.
The cause of death is unknown.
Last week, Himachal Pradesh police reported the discovery of the bodies of two Russians at a hot spring near the village of Manikaran in the foothills of the Himalayas. Mobile phones and passports were found near the bodies, as well as notes with requests on how to dispose of their belongings. It later turned out that the dead were 37-year-old Maxim Beletsky and 21-year-old Anna Rantseva. According to preliminary data, the death was not violent.
The local police clarified that the victims will be cremated, but the procedure may be postponed based on the results of the autopsy.
Beletsky graduated from the Mari Republican College of Culture and Arts named after I. S. Palantai, and then received his directing education at the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts in St. Petersburg. From 2007 to 2021 he served at the Republican Puppet Theater in Yoshkar-Ola. Twice he became a laureate of the Yyvan Kyrli National Theater Award at the Yoshkar-Ola Theater Festival.
