The Netherlands may refuse from the transfer of F-16 fighter jets and other military assistance to Ukraine after the change of government, said the head of the Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense, Kaisa Ollongren. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The retiring Ollongren noted that political changes in the country are very worrying to the West.
“They fear that the Netherlands will stop supplying F-16 fighters and other military support if Geert Wilders’ party comes to power,” she said.
Ollongren also indicated that Wilders’ “Freedom Party” would not lead the country individually, but as part of a coalition. At the same time, she admitted that this party “never showed enthusiasm” in the issue of providing military assistance to the Kyiv regime. She also accused the Freedom Party of having a “pro-Russian position” and promised to do her best to prevent the disruption of military aid to Kiev.
Earlier, Politico published an article claiming that the victory of Geert Wilders’ party in the parliamentary elections in The Netherlands will become the “worst nightmare” for the EU and Ukraine. The publication recalls that Wilders is a supporter of the Netherlands leaving the EU and an extreme right-wing politician who does not want close interaction with the European Union.
