BILD expert Repke: the Russian army suddenly went on the offensive

Military expert German publication BILD Julian Röpke indicated in his material that the Ukrainian army retreated from the first district of Avdiivka. “Russian troops have advanced approximately one kilometer into the city,” Roepke writes.

The analyst noted that a video shot by the Russian military from a drone shows that Ukrainian soldiers have left the industrial area and a nearby holiday village. At the same time, Repke emphasized, Russian tanks and infantrymen took up positions in the southern part of Avdiivka a few minutes after the Ukrainians retreated and brought down intense fire on the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The German expert noted that Ukraine created its own troops here back in 2014 advanced positions, so the loss of the industrial zone could be especially painful for Kiev.

According to him, Russian T-80 tanks are already in the western part of the industrial zone, which was recently controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Therefore, this refutes the claims of the Ukrainian command that the fighters are holding the line.

Repke also writes that ten kilometers to the north, at the other end of Avdiivka, the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is better, but observers expect that fate will repeat itself in Avdiivka Bakhmuta (Artemovsk).
