MOSCOW, November 30. The Ruselectronics holding (part of Rostec) is developing a new complex for protecting airports from birds and drones “Chaika”, said Sergei Skorykh, General Director of the Vector Research Institute .
«Research Institute «Vector» of the Ruselectronics holding (part of Rostec) is developing a new modification of the ORNI ornithological complex, which will detect not only birds, but also unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The system is called «Chaika», work on the project is being carried out jointly with the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University «LETI» named after V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin),» said Skorykh during the international exhibition of technical security and security equipment Sfitex 2023.
The absence of any radiation allows the complex to operate without interfering with communication and flight support systems. Passive radar does not require permission to use frequencies and does not interfere with other devices, and it also has no harmful effects on people and the environment, he also noted.
With the help of the software being developed, the system will be able to recognize birds, determine the direction of their movement, height, speed and record all external events for further analysis.
In addition, the new development will “see” the approach of drones, and will also be able to interface with various drone suppression devices. Situation monitoring data is transmitted to the control center for the operator to make decisions. The system can also operate in automatic mode.
The ORNI complex, developed by Vector specialists, allows you to track the flights of birds at a distance of up to 20 km, determine the direction, altitude and speed of their movement, and also automatically turn on the deterrents installed at the airfield.
