The Kremlin noted Gergiev's services to the Mariinsky Theater

MOSCOW, December 1 Valery Gergiev, who headed the Bolshoi Theater, long ago solved the personnel problem at the Mariinsky Theater, where the Academy of Young Singers was opened, the head of the presidential department told reporters Russia for public projects Sergey Novikov.
On Friday, the Russian government announced that Gergiev has been appointed general director of the Bolshoi Theater for five years. Vladimir Urin was relieved of this position at his own request.

«Valery Gergiev was appointed director of the Bolshoi Theater today. He solved his personnel problem long ago. They realized at the Mariinsky Theater that no one would save them, they created the Academy of Young Singers, and people come there to study,» – Novikov noted.

According to him, students at the academy first sing in an ensemble, but already on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater, together with masters, participate in performances, and then make a solo career.
