YAROSLAVL, December 8 Investigators have charged four defendants in a criminal case for the kidnapping of an eight-year-old girl in the Kaluga region and extortion of 1.5 million rubles, reports the SUSK of Russia for the region.
“Three men aged 21, 40 and 44 years and a 37-year-old woman have been charged with crimes… kidnapping of a minor for mercenary reasons, committed by a group of persons, and… extortion on a particularly large scale,” the report says.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and SUSK for the Kaluga region, an eight-year-old girl did not return from school in Kozelsk on November 29, and soon her mother was sent a ransom demand of 1.5 million rubles via messenger. The next day in the evening, the girl was brought to the village of Taratukhino, Belevsky district, Tula region and left on the street, the girl went into the house of local residents and asked for help. She later told police that on the way from school, three men and a woman took her in a car and kept her in a private house.
Four people were detained on suspicion of kidnapping and extortion. According to SUSC, this is a 37-year-old woman, her 44-year-old ex-husband and their common son, 21 years old, as well as the woman’s current husband, who is 40 years old. On December 1, the Kaluga District Court ordered the arrest of all four for a period of two months. It was reported that the forty-year-old man had previously been convicted of attempted murder.
