The Jaecoo brand has revealed fresh details about the J8 for Russia and announced two more new products

Along with “traditional” SUVs, the company will also sell hybrids in the Russian Federation. The model range will be expanded next year.

The Jaecoo brand joined Chery's portfolio in 2023; it was created specifically for export markets. The first-born was the Jaecoo J7 crossover (in some countries — simply Jaecoo 7), in the Russian Federation it launched in September. And already in November, the Russian division of the brand announced a second model — a larger SUV with the J8 index (in some places it was Jaecoo 8, but it debuted as Jaecoo 9). Now the local office has shared fresh details about our “eight”, in addition, plans for other new products have been announced.

Let us remind you that the Jaecoo J8 is a Chery Tiggo 9 with a different emblem and nameplates, plus the Jake model also has a slightly retouched radiator grille (the J7 in China also has a brother from Chery – Explore 06). The dimensions are most likely the same: the length of the Chery cross is 4820 mm, width – 1930 mm, height – 1699/1710 mm (depending on version), wheelbase – 2820 mm.

The crossovers have one engine for two – a 2.0 petrol turbo-four, but for the Russian Federation it was expectedly “strangled”: 249 hp. versus 261 hp in China. Our Jaecoo J8 will be available with adaptive suspension and all-wheel drive. They haven’t talked about the box yet, but the all-wheel drive Chery Tiggo 9 has a classic eight-speed automatic transmission: it’s probably the one that came from the Jaecoo J8 (the front-wheel drive Tiggo 9 is equipped with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches).

The Russian crossover is also promised full LED optics and 20-inch wheels. The interior will have a curved display, high-quality materials (including Nappa leather) and atmospheric lighting with a range of 256 colors (by the way, Tiggo 9 comes with five or seven seats, but which versions are being prepared for the Russian Federation is still unknown). The Eight is equipped with many modern assistants, although there is no list of them yet. For example, the Chery Tiggo 9 arsenal includes all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, auto braking and lane keeping systems.

In Russia, sales of the Jaecoo J8 will begin in the first quarter of 2024. In the second quarter, the brand's local range will be replenished with the rechargeable hybrid Jaecoo J7 PHEV, and then the J8 PHEV will reach dealers: the company will talk about electrified crossovers later.
