    The State Commission at Baikonur allowed the Soyuz-2.1b rocket to refuel

    MOSCOW, December 16 The State Commission at Baikonur has authorized the refueling and launch of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket, which will send it into orbit today hydrometeorological satellite “Arktika-M” No. 2, Roscosmos reported on Saturday.
    Soyuz is allowed to refuel, start – 12:17:48 Moscow time. The State Commission authorized the refueling of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle, carrying the Fregat upper stage and the Arktika-M hydrometeorological satellite No. 2, and its launch from the 31st site,” the statement says.
    The Arktika-M satellites operate in an elliptical orbit with an inclination of 63.3 degrees and in their operating area they see the Arctic region, including the Northern Sea Route. They are equipped with instruments for obtaining images of clouds and surfaces in the visible and infrared ranges, monitoring and forecasting solar flares, radiation conditions and geomagnetic field.
