The court sentenced director Ivan Vyrypaev for fake news about the army

MOSCOW, December 15 The Basmanny Court of Moscow sentenced director Ivan Vyrypaev in absentia to 8 years in prison for fake news about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, reports the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
«The Basmanny District Court of Moscow passed a verdict in a criminal case against Ivan Vyrypaev. He was found guilty under clause «e» of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation… The court sentenced Vyrypaev in absentia to 8 years in prison to be served in a correctional facility general regime colony, with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of websites of electronic or information and telecommunication networks for a period of 4 years,” the message says.
The court found that Vyrypaev from March to December 2022 in on the Internet publicly disseminated, under the guise of reliable, false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces to destroy civilian infrastructure and kill civilians during a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine.

Since Vyrypaev hid from the investigation and trial outside Russia and was put on the international wanted list, the trial was conducted in his absence.
