American Gabe Watson was accused 20 years later of deliberately cutting off the oxygen supply to his wife while they were scuba diving. The Daily Star reports this.
According to the publication, at that time Gabe and Tina Watson had been married for 11 days. During their honeymoon in 2003, they went to Australia. The tragedy occurred near a sunken ship in Queensland. After diving towards him, Gabe surfaced alone.
The man reported his missing wife to the diving instructor. He pulled the girl to the surface ten minutes later. The doctor tried to resuscitate her for 40 minutes, but to no avail.
Almost immediately after the crime, many inconsistencies were noted. Other divers said they saw the newlyweds hugging underwater together just before the tragedy. And one of the scuba divers even saw the deceased Tina in an underwater photograph behind his wife.
In 2009, Gabe Watson admitted to manslaughter due to negligence and was sentenced to 18 years in prison in Australia. After serving his sentence, he returned to the United States and faced new charges over Tina's death, now from the Alabama State Attorney. He believed that Watson could have killed his wife for financial reasons, wanting to gain full control of the property and insurance. But in 2012, Gabe was acquitted.
Now Tina’s relatives have filed a lawsuit against him again. Gabe came to the court hearing with his new wife, Kate. The prosecution is trying to prove that the man himself turned off the valve and kept his wife under water in order to enrich himself. Already at the new hearings, everyone noted Watson's unusual behavior. He repeatedly showed a photograph of his wife, taken shortly before her death, against the background of a sign “Caution, Drowning!” Tina’s family was also amazed that he specifically removed the flowers that relatives placed on her grave.
