KRASNOYARSK, December 24The number of hospitalized children after an incident involving the collapse of part of a wooden slide under construction in the Ust-Abakansky district of Khakassia has increased to three, the republic’s Ministry of Health reported.
Earlier, the regional headquarters of the SUSK reported that the incident occurred on Saturday at a hill under construction in the village of Ust-Abakan, Ust-Abakan district of the republic. According to preliminary data, at about 4 p.m., several children came to a wooden slide under construction, located in the market square of the village. While skating, the top of the slide structure collapsed, causing several children to fall from a three-meter height. When they fell, they received injuries of varying severity; two girls were hospitalized with fractures in the republican hospital.
Investigative authorities have organized an investigation into this fact. A criminal case has been initiated under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers, resulting in negligence in causing serious harm to human health). The head of Khakassia, Valentin Konovalov, ordered to check the safety of all children's playgrounds in the republic, all places for family recreation, including snow towns and slides.
«Four children came to the emergency room of the Abakan Interdistrict Clinical Hospital after the slide collapsed. One child is undergoing outpatient treatment. Three children with serious injuries, according to the routing, were hospitalized at the Remishevskaya Republican Clinical Hospital» , — said the agency’s interlocutor.
She noted that medical workers are doing everything necessary. The situation is under special control of the Ministry of Health of Khakassia.
