    Russian singer Irakli Pirtskhalava was not allowed into Moldova

    CHISINAU, December 23 Russian pop singer of Georgian origin Irakli Pirtskhalava was not allowed into Moldova, the Chisinau TV channel TV-5 reported on Saturday.
    According to media reports, the singer planned to perform at festive events in the city of Orhei, where opposition representative Tatiana Cociu, whose candidacy is supported by Moldovan politician Ilan Shor, recently won the mayoral elections.
    “”As Channel 5 has learned, the famous performer of Georgian origin Irakli Pirtskhalava is not allowed into Moldova. The artist flew in to participate in several New Year's concerts. The reason for the refusal is not yet known,” the publication on the channel's website notes.
    By this hour, the Moldovan authorities had not commented on the situation.

    The press service of the Border Police of Moldova refrained from providing the correspondent with details on this fact, noting that over the last 24 hours 39 people were refused entry into the country.
