«Lenta.ru»: «Tulun maniac» Pavel Shuvalov, sentenced to 24 years, died in the Northern Military District
Lenta.ru, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, reports the death in the Northern Military District zone of 55-year-old Pavel Shuvalov, who in 2021 was sentenced to 24 years in prison for the rape and murder of women. In the press, the criminal received the nickname “Tulun maniac.”
According to the publication, Shuvalov entered into a “contract with one of the private military companies” in April of this year and died at the end of May near Lugansk. The editors indicate that Shuvalov’s death was “confirmed by three fellow soldiers,” and also reported that it was not possible to take his body.
According to the investigation, in the period 1991-2019, Shuvalov raped at least 27 women and girls, five the victims were minors. Two victims have died. In 2019, as a result of the flood in Tulun, some of the archival materials were damaged, and the statute of limitations had expired for some of the episodes, as a result of which the prosecution in court was able to prove Shuvalov’s guilt in only two rapes and murders.
The FSIN and other authorized departments have not yet commented on the information about Shuvalov’s participation in the SVO and his death.
Previously it was reported about the return from the special operation zone of a resident of the Perm Territory, who was sentenced to 11 years for the murder of a young woman, whose body he passed through a meat grinder. The media also wrote about the departure to Northern Military District of actor Alexander Kilin, who was sentenced to 18 years for the rape and murder of a student. Later, information appeared about the return from the combat zone of a Perm man sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape and murder of a 23-year-old nurse. In early December, reports appeared about the release from the colony to participate in the SVO of the former director of «Yeralash» Ilya Belostotsky, whom the court found guilty of seducing a 13-year-old boy.
In November, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the pardon of the convict for the brutal murder of 23-year-old Vera Pekhteleva. A presidential spokesman told the media that “those convicted, including those of serious crimes,” committed crimes “are atonement with blood in the assault brigades.”
