MOSCOW, February 1 The lead singer of the rock group «Bi-2» Leva* (real name — Egor Bortnik*) admitted guilt of violating the laws of Thailand, but considered the punishment disproportionate, Izvestia reports from Israel airport .
“
"It was a surprise, that is, an incommensurable, let’s say, punishment. I understand that we, even though it was not our fault, still broke the law, but what began to happen next was already beyond any logic,” said Bortnik*.
Egor Bortnik* arrived in Israel from Thailand, from where the musician was deported for violations.
Last week, the musicians were detained in Thailand for performing without the required permit.
They spent the night in a holding cell at the district police station. The trial took place in Phuket. The artists were fined $85 each and deported.
The rockers were then brought to Bangkok and placed in an immigration detention center. Eyewitnesses reported that the musicians were “in a cage under the scorching sun.”
According to Thai law, deportation is carried out to the country where the passport is issued. As the Russian Consul General in Phuket Vladimir Sosnov previously reported, five of the seven musicians are citizens of Russia, two more members of the group entered Thailand with Israeli and Australian passports.
The night before, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that it had achieved the release of all musicians of the group «Bi- 2». The artists confirmed on their Telegram channel that they had left Thailand and were flying to Israel.
