MOSCOW, February 5. The investigation is asking that lawyer Alexei Fedyarov be placed under house arrest for mediation in bribery, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of the capital reported.
“The court has registered a petition from the investigation to select a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against A.V. Fedyarov,” the court said.
They added that the lawyer is changing Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mediation in bribery on an especially large scale), the sanction of which is up to 12 years in prison.
Fedyarov is the founder of the consulting group «Status». As indicated on the organization’s website, from 1996 to 2007 he worked in the prosecutor’s office, and then went into business. It is known that Fedyarov came to defend director Kirill Serebrennikov during the search in the Seventh Studio case, but then he changed his lawyer.
In the media he is mentioned as a lawyer for the Sitting Rus' Foundation* (recognized as an NGO-foreign agent).
